Crucial Information

Happy Friday, everyone! Hope you're all kicking off the weekend in a fun and relaxing way if possible. David and I are painting the town red. ...Wellll, part of our living room is painted red. Does that count? We turned down multiple social engagement offers in our metropolis to be present for the season premiere of Stargate Atlantis.

Whilst awaiting the big moment (I said that with a British accent), I'm taking inspiration from a great blog, Altered Ambitions. Christi was challenged to share seven random things about herself. So I thought to myself, "Why not mooch off of this idea?" (also said with a British accent)

So for your weekend reading pleasure (or pain), here are seven random things about me...

1. My left thumb is double jointed.
2. I think Worcestershire sauce on mashed potatoes is quite tasty.
3, When I was born I had black hair and blue eyes. (very different now - no comments!)
4. Despite a fear of heights, I'd love to try parasailing and the trapeze.
5. I've been on Texas' death row. Don't ask me how I escaped.
6. I think it's fascinating how owls can turn their heads so far around.
7. I have never understood the appeal of the Three Stooges.

...There you have it. Now, what about you?

Sorry, this isn't a comment on this particular message, but I just know all of you are waiting on pins and needles to see how Alison is genealogically connected to the Cass County courthouse in Linden, Texas. As is happened, Alison's third great-grandfather on her mother's father's side sold 50 acres (for $50.00, total)to the county in 1849. The land where the courthouse now stands in Linden is part of that original sale. By the way, Linden won out for county seat over the little burg of Jefferson.

(sigh)...you are such a girl (relating to the 3 Stooges comment)

Heyyyyyyyy!!!!

I'm okay with that.

What a fun tidbit! Thanks, Alison's mom!! LOVE the photo from the prayer garden today...such a serene, beautiful place!!! smiles...

I have always said that the stooges are a man thing. I know of only a small miniority of ladies who enjoy the comic genius of the three stooges.

(sigh) I guess ladies just don't know a good thing when they see it. After all, Daniel is married. See...ladies do not have good taste! I guess I'll never understand women not liking the three stooges or a baseball to the groin joke (just kidding on that last one).

Alison Bryant said...

Well, we ladies would like these three geniuses a lot better if they would just leave out the eye poking, noggin hitting, cheek slapping, board-to-face slamming, banana-peel slipping, and nose twisting.
And then it would only take about two minutes to watch them. Everyone wins.

To quote an earlier comment:

(sigh)...you are such a girl

But "Better Off Dead" is a cultural icon to Ali. Wait...I guess 2 dollars is better than getting poked in the eye.

Alison Bryant said...

"...Cash!"

Wait a minute--doesn't everyone consider "Better Off Dead" a defining cultural event???

"I've been at this high school for seven and a half years, Lane. I'm no dummy."

"Two brothers... One speaks no English, the other learned English from watching 'The Wide World of Sports.' So you tell me... Which is better, speaking no English at all, or speaking Howard Cosell?"

Somebody stop me!

ROFL...I refuse to stop you. You have me plum giggly now.

Dave - you man you...do you watch the stooges whilst (yes, British accent) drinking your raspberry latte with whipped cream?

ok...quick seven, since I haven't a blog of my own...

1. I am afraid of heights, too, and hate to stand on step stools.
2. I teach 2 year olds at Sunday School. They've taught me more than I 've taught them.
3. I've named all of my cars.
4. My first pet was a weiner dog named Clementine.
5. I love dumb "guy" movies, although, I, too, don't understand the three stooges.
6. I got my belly button a couple of months ago. Don't know what came over me, but I do love it!
7. I think Dave is kinda cute. ;)

And there you have it. :)

Anonymous said...

yep, I received a brand new belly button a couple months ago...in the mail.

Ok, I meant "I got my belly button pierced a couple months ago."

Yeah...I'm a mother of two. Can't talk good anymore.

Alison Bryant said...

Heh heh heh...I knew I could reel you in, Kara, if I whipped out the 80s Cusack! =)

I could say that I think Daniel's kinda cute, too, but we're not that kind of family.

(And to those reading who are now seriously questioning their taste in blogs, you might want to know that she and I are married to twin brothers.)

Seven "nuggets":
1. Down on eye-poking stooges.
2. Peanut butter and mustard sandwiches rock.
3. "Better Off Dead" and Lane Meyer define 80's movie magic, not to mention celebrating the French culture...French fries, French dressing...
4. Not a fan of heights.
5. I've met Walker, Texas Ranger.
6. .38 Special made some special 80's music.
7. Bugs Bunny is cartoon genius.

Alison Bryant said...

Very nice, See-ster. I think I had blocked out the PB & mustard sammies from my memory. I also seem to recall some other "delicacy" sandwiches you liked when we were little. Wasn't there a butter sandwich, too? =)
But I guess I shouldn't be cheeky when I have you, Sensei, to thank for showing me the path to Better Off Dead and Looney Tunes.
Tell us about when you met the Chuckster, please.

alright miss kara...I'll have you know that right now there is no raspberry latte or blackberry mocha with whipped cream in my hand, but a simple caramel apple cider ...uhhh ...with whipped cream.

I mean, come on! Life's too short to not enjoy whipped cream and the stooges!

Christi said...

ewwww, peanut butter and mustard?!?!

Kara, I am seeing you in a whole new light...belly button pierced?? :) When do you get the motorcycle...
smiles!

Anonymous said...

Is this news to you Christi? At least I talked her out of the tatoo - for now.

At least she still does not like the 3 Stooges - for now.

Alison Bryant said...

But many respectable women have a tattoo.

Anonymous said...

are you calling Kara respectable?!

:-P

Anonymous said...

I'm not sure if anyone should be called respectable if they don't understand the comic genius of the stooges (except Alison of course)

Christi said...

Alison...do you have news too? tattoo??? smiles...

Anonymous said...

You guys are cracking me up!

Chris - no motorcycle in the immediate future...sadly, I'm terrified of them. So this image I've been cultivating is totally down the drain, eh?

Alison - Thank you! ha HA!! In your face, Dan! ;)

Dave - you are right. Life IS too short to not enjoy whipped cream in your girly drinks. Absolutely true.

Dan - I love you anyway.

Christi said...

LOL! Kara, not down the drain...actually probably raised a notch or two. I think that it is good for the soul to break a rule or two... :D

Alison, have I mentioned lately that I love your blog? It makes me feel a little closer to home. LOVE you guys!
smiles!

Ah, good times, good times...

I don't necessarily have any immediate plans for a tattoo, but I'll admit I've thought about it.

Some people have surprised me when I found out they actually do have a tattoo. And it would be hard for others to believe.

I have a heart that says "Curly" on my left "hiney" cheek and "Moe" on my right.

I too am enjoying the good times on your blog Ali and Christi's comment made me smile.
